Internet Safety Show
The children in Year 1 – Year 6 all participated in a special assembly today (30 January 2018). Barking Up The Right Tree Theatre Company came in to school to do a performance on E-Safety. This highlighted the importance of online safety with an interactive show. The children all enjoyed the show, they participated, and demonstrated excellent behaviour and most of all learnt about what dangers are found around E-safety and learnt way to help them keep themselves safe. If you would like to know more about internet safety and keeping your child safe or have any concerns, Mr Turner is always available.
We have been made aware that some children are using an app called Musical.ly. This app can have private settings applied and allows children to send 30 second videos to their friends. The issue is with an app called Live.ly which can be accessed through Muscial.ly.
Live.ly is a live video streaming product that allows children to broadcast their 'channel' to other users. There is no option to make your profile private, so any broadcast can be seen by any user. This app is made by the developers of Musical.ly and users can sign in with their Musical.ly username, linking the profiles on both apps. If your child has both apps and has shared any of their private info and location on Musical.ly any Live.ly user can see it and send them a private message without having to be their friend or a follower. As with any live streaming product, there are concerns over what your child is sharing and what they are seeing from other users.
Please pass on this information to friends and family in order to keep our children safe.

Out of School
We would like to congratulate Olivia (Year 6) who has been competing in several swimming competitions over the past few months. Olivia has been training for the past 3 years. She started her training with the City of Wakefield Swimming Club but has now moved on to swim with Doncaster Dartes Elite. Olivia trains 5 sessions a week, one session being at 6.00am! Olivia was entered in to the Yorkshire County Championships coming within the top ten finalists in 6 races. Olivia has done herself proud again with her latest achievements, she is the Doncaster Champion for her age group, has achieved 5 new personal best times, had 5 first places in her recent competitions and was awarded the top girl award for her club.
This is an amazing achievement for Olivia who has done an outstanding job. We are very proud of you. Well Done Olivia!

Year 6 - Richmond Castle
On Wednesday 4th October, Year 6 visited Richmond Castle as part of their 'Castles' topic. The day was a success and the children were able to explore, experience and discuss the structure, that is part of British history. The children asked questions and used their surroundings to gather information about the castle and its history.
