Parents - Attendance
School Attendance Matters
We would like to introduce the schools new Educational Welfare Officer – Mrs Hunter.
Mrs Hunter introduced herself and SAM to the children in an assembly on 4 October 2017. This assembly was to remind children of the importance of regular school attendance. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents/carers that every day counts. We firmly believe that missing school means missing out, and recognise that lost learning through absence impacts on pupils' progress. We ask parents and carers to work with us to ensure that children attend school regularly and punctually.
Our attendance target for the whole school for 2017 – 2018 is 96.24%.

A big thank you to all children who have 97% attendance or more. Many congratulations to the 99 children who have achieved 100% attendance so far this year!
Can I remind parents that I am not allowed to authorise term-time holidays. If parents take children on holiday without permission during term time, it has to be recorded as an unauthorised absence and this may result in a penalty notice issued by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council—monies to be paid to the Educational Welfare Service. All other Primary Schools in the Castleford pyramid have this recommendation in place.
If your child is ill and will not be attending school, please telephone the office on 01977 524483 to notify them of your child's absence. If you know of hospital or dental appointments, please bring the letter into school to show the class teacher. Please confirm the illness in writing via a note or completing a school form.
